Artwork

The Dairy has commissioned local photographer and artist, Morn Brough of Card Blanche, to produce a collection of original art for The Dairy cottages. Each cottage features different images ranging from Highland botanicals to local loch, sea and landscapes..


Beds

All our beds are fitted with superior quality, fully sprung mattresses to provide excellent comfort and support. Made by local Inverness company Highland Blindcraft, the beds are super king sized doubles and full size singles. 


Bedding & bed linen

All our bedding is anti-allergy and bed linen is 100% Egyptian cotton. Please inform Reception if you have any acute allergies to feathers.


Car park

On arrival and departure you are welcome to park close to your cottage door to unpack/pack up your car. Please use the car park at all other times. The car park is floodlit at night for your security but please do not leave valuables in your car, as The Dairy cannot be held responsible for any theft or loss of property during your stay. 

The electric vehicle (EV) charging station in our car park is powered by Voltshare, this smart charging point is compatible with all modern EV’s.

Please note the area is covered by CCTV and any damage arising from improper use of the charger is liable to be paid for by the offending guest.

Out of courtesy to other users please unplug the cable from your car when your session has ended and move to another parking space to allow other guests to use the EV charger.

Please do not park in front of the EV charging station if you are not using the charging point.


Check-out

Check-out is 10am to allow our housekeeping team to change over bed linen and towels before new guests check-in. 


Cobbled courtyard

In accordance with Historic Scotland guidelines, the cobbles in the central courtyard have been restored. Please take care when walking on the cobbles and beware of the different steps and levels in the courtyard. Young children and older guests are urged to take particular care.


Comments 

You will find located in the living room a comments book. Please use this book to share any information on highlights or disappointments you have experienced on your holiday for future guests (i.e., restaurants, day trips etc.).

We would like to use your comments with your name and town on our website testimonials page or other promotional material. Please read our note on inside cover of book regarding your consent.


Countryside access

Daviot Estate is a working farm so please take care to close gates and not to disturb animals grazing and crops growing in the fields. The road beyond the Keeper’s Cottage leads to the main house and is therefore strictly private.

Dogs

If arranged at the time of booking well behaved dogs are welcome in our Holstein and Ayrshire cottages strictly on the understanding that:

• dogs accompany owners when they are off site

• dogs are kept on leads at all times within our grounds

• dog deposits are removed in bags to the general waste bin in the gated refuse area by owners

• dogs bring their own bedding and feeding bowls and are kept off the furniture

• dogs are not allowed upstairs in the cottage

• dog related damage is made good by their owners.

Free range eggs are available at farm gate Aultlugie, Daviot IV2 5ER approx ½ mile further along the B851 to Croy.

Fire safety

The safety of guests staying at The Dairy is considered paramount. In accordance with the provisions of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 an ongoing Fire Risk Assessment process is in place. The smoke and heat alarms in your cottage are fully compliant with regulations and are checked regularly for your safety. All fittings/furnishings fully comply with the latest fire safety regulations to allow guests to relax and enjoy this holiday home in the knowledge that their personal safety has been taken care of.

Two SafeTLights, one downstairs and one upstairs are charged and switched on for your safety in event of a power cut or fire. Both have removable torches with up to 4 hours light in a power cut. A torch is also hanging on the coat hooks downstairs for your use (spare batteries are available in the drawer in the television table).

Please familiarise yourself with the Fire Action Plan located by the main door into the cottage and the instructions for the SafeTLight see operating instructions in your instruction manual.

A FIRE BLANKET is located in the kitchen. Fire blankets can be used on fat pan fires on the cooker or for wrapping around someone whose clothing is on fire.

A FOAM FIRE EXTINGUISHER & A CO2 FIRE EXTINGUISHER are both wall mounted in the hall of each cottage.

FOAM is safe for wood, paper, textiles and flammable liquids.

CO2 is safe for flammable liquids and live electrical equipment.

Please locate the fire blanket and fire extinguishers make sure all adults know where they are and how to use them the instructions for use are clearly explained on the front of each item. Extinguishers and blankets should only be used on a small, easily containable fire. The priority is always to keep safe. Things can be replaced, but people can’t.

Good housekeeping

On arrival, your cottage should be spotlessly clean (if it is not, please contact Reception immediately). We thank you in advance for leaving it in the same condition in which you found it (with the exception of dirty linen) and fit for occupation by the next guest. In particular, ovens, hobs, fridges and worktops must be left clean. Any cleaning (other than normal cleaning) would result in money being taken from your good housekeeping deposit. The restaurant, serves an enticing selection of home-cooked dishes, the majority of which are based on locally sourced produce. The home-baked cakes are particularly delicious. If the weather is favourable you can enjoy your refreshments outside where you have a good chance of seeing a dolphin in the Firth.

Walking and wildlife

Daviot Wood lies to the south of Inverness on the ridge between Strathnairn and Loch Ness. The forest walks allow visitors to enjoy the peace and quiet of a semi-mature pine forest. The wood supports a diverse range of wildlife if you are quiet you may see red squirrels and roe deer. There are forest links between the city of Inverness and Daviot Village. All you have to do is follow the marked trails.


Windows

The upstairs windows double as a fire exit in the event you are not able to exit by the front door. The top half of the sash frame windows open downwards for ventilation. Please see the Fire Action Plan at the front door for instruction
